After having thought of what to write, i figured out that it's easier to write about myself. So this week's theme for me is 'Autobiography'. However, i am going to write about my family and dedicate this to them and perhaps rant about it as well. Nowadays, kids have all this complains about their family and hated their family for it. Ironically, it reminds me of myself back when i was younger. Even now, i would complain about them and find a way to avoid conversation with them. However, no matter how hard i try, i can't change the fact i love them.
I have a family of five that consist of my Dad, Mum, Brother, Sister and finally me. I am the youngest among us three children. A lot of people might be jealous of me because i am the youngest. What difference does it make if i am the youngest? I believe every parents are fair when it comes to treatment and care for their children, just different method.
I felt stupid when i thought back on how i always wanted to be in my friend's family, saying how great theirs are and comparing them to mine but not anymore. I have found enough reasons to stick with my family and whole lot more to love them. Hell, do i even need reasons?
I really want to know why you would even start to hate your family? Because they nag at you? Because they scold you for a reason not known to you? And you even thought of running away from home after you got money. I just got off a conversation with a friend of mine who's only twelve years old. She said she plan to leave home after she got enough money just because her family ask her to stop playing the computer. Yes, that was the exact same thinking i have back when i was around her age. Thinking my family just scold me for no reason and always hating on me. Thinking they love my brother and sister more than me.
There's not much to teach you how to love your family. It's up to oneself to do that. I have learned to love them and know the meaning behind their words. Seriously, their nagging and scolding are for our own good. Do you think they wanted to scold you? There's a saying in Chinese that goes,''Parents eat more salt than you eating rice''. It actually means that they have more experience than we do and that we should listen to their advise. If you're still having a hard time digesting my words, try putting yourselves in their shoes. What would you do when you have children? These are the words that came from my parents. Try asking anyone older than you whether they love their family and listen to their answer.

No Specific Topic 1.0 - Leo Carl Cheong
Yes, I am from Ipoh and i don't have 'Point Blanc - Ipoh Mali' as my ringtone or alarm. For your information, Ipoh is not a 'Kampung' or rural area. It's one of Malaysia's largest city. I live in Pasir Puteh area of Ipoh and i studied in S.M.K Anderson Ipoh. Back in my high school, I am not a studious person and i spent more time on my co-curricular than my academic activities. How so? I was the President of Leo Club of Anderson Ipoh, Vice-President of Red Crescent Society and school player for Basketball. Pretty cool, isn't it?
I remember joining my school's Leo Club back when i was in form three. I was initially interested in joining Interact Club but instead, was pulled into Leo Club by my friends and seniors. I have a bad impression on Leo Club as most of my friends are in it to meet girls. It is nothing more than a social club to me at first. It was a nuisance as i have to memorize the Leo Pledge, Lion Spirit song and whatsoever. Then, i started going for some of its activities like functions from another Leo Club of another school. As i start to dig up more information about Leo Club, i have this growing interest in me. Leo Club is something like a junior version of Lions Club and Lions Club is the most active organization in the world. Fascinated, i start to volunteer and taking up posts in it's events. I still remember i was the Master of Ceremony and the Caterer for my first project, a Game Function. I was so nervous up on stage that i was shaking the whole time and stuttering words even if i was just reading from a script at hand.
I start to realize Leo Club isn't all about the fun, but instead helping to serve the community. Event management and communication skills are some of the main abilities I have enhanced during my time in Leo Club. Trust me, Leo Club isn't just your normal school clubs. It really trains people to be good leaders and being in Leo Club sometimes feels like being in politics. Competing against other Leo Clubs in the world to gain awards and recognition in Leo Forum and in the same time, serve community. Besides, dramas do happen in the Board of Directors and in the world of Leo Club.
Speaking of Leo Forum, it is an annual major three-days-two-nights event where Leos in one District, in my case District 308 (Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei), gathers to be given recognition and awards for its hard work throughout the fiscal year. It also acts as a medium for Leos around the world to get to know each other and build friendships. The awards are in a hierarchy order ranking from Merit to Outstanding and finally Top. However, in order to be qualified to compete for Top awards, one must first achieve Outstanding awards first. There can be many Merit and Outstanding awards winners but there can be only one Top award winner. There are also many prestigious awards. This inspires many Leos to work hard. It also marks the end of one fiscal year.
I eventually worked my way up and gotten the President post for fiscal year 2009/2010. I have travelled to many places to attend other clubs' projects and even did some joint projects with them for instance, KL, Penang, Melaka, Sabah, Sarawak, etc. As Leo Club of Anderson is the first Leo Club ever formed in District 308, it is up to me to continue its legacy (My seniors got the Top Club award back in fiscal year 2009/2009). It was not easy to live up to everyone's expectations as i had some bad experiences with my board of directors. As i have said, dramas do happen. All of my board of directors disliked me and they boycotted me. I spent the first six months of my fiscal year bonding with them and we eventually got back together. We worked our hearts out for the next six months and organized some major events which brought our club back to life. We also attended the annual Leo Camp and Leolympic, which we got gold in basketball and bowling and silver in futsal but lost to Leo Club of Sam Tet for the Grand Trophy. Besides, it is here where i met a girl who i have feelings for but never get the chance to be with.
After a great year, it has come to our long-awaited Leo Forum. Leo Forum that year was held in Tower Regency Hotel, Ipoh with approximately 1200 Lions and Leos deligates. On the second night, an Oscar-themed Grand Dinner was held and that's where the awards are presented. While we failed to defend our most prestigious award, Top Club award, I was awarded Top President Award and International Director Excellent Leo Youth Service Award. We also gotten ourselves THREE more Top Awards which is :-
- Top Most Innovative and Creative Project Award for our 'Charity Home Hopping' project (A amazing race-ish project that instead of going to locations, teams go to orphanage, old folks home and any other charitable homes. They have to complete tasks after tasks while racing to reach the Pit Stop.)
- Top Fundraising Project Award for our ''117 Fallen Stars'' project (A fundraising project to raise fund for National Kidney Foundation in the names of the Leos who passed away in a dragon boat race. We raised a total of RM10,000.)
- Top Joint Project for Leolympic (A sport competition organized by a total of 13 clubs in our Region. It consists of basketball, badminton, futsal, bowling and more.)
We got a total of 27 awards altogether in that night. That was one of my greatest moment ever in my life. We were given a special certificate by our school for our achievements. After that, i went on to be chosen to be a nominee for Leo of the Year Award, representing District 308 (Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei) to compete with other countries. Unfortunately, i didn't make it but i was happy enough to have achieve so much. Now, i have passed down my job to my juniors and went on to join an Omega Leo Club (A 18+ years old Leo Club). I want to thank three persons in particular which is Leo Jeremy Lam (my Vice-President), Leo Daviz Foo (my Treasurer) and District Chairperson Lion Alan Thoo for backing me up and working hard with me. There are many more i would like to thank. You know who you are. This is me being a Leo. So, if you are interested in joining a Leo Club, please do so as it is a life-changing experience. Animal Rights 2.0
We have talked about all the cruelty happening to these poor and innocent animals, how their rights are violated and mistreated. But what's the use of complaining about it when we're not doing anything to help reduce these madness? I know it is all because we are too lazy to care of all these so called unnecessary problems and we have no authority to control them. Besides that, i see the governments are working their hearts out to improve everything except an alternative way to deal with the killing of animals.
Yes, killing of animals are for the sake of making food and other materials but deep down i believe it doesn't just ends there. First there's hunting of wild animals for the sake of fun. Then, they cut those animals' heads off and hung them up on the walls as trophies. What's so great about these ''trophies''? What is there to prove when you killed those innocent animals? Does that prove you're better than them? It just makes you a merciless killer, that's all.

And then, there's the infamous underground dog fights. Betting on two dogs' life when they are fighting each other to death. How wonderful it sounds. Get a life and leave those dogs alone. There are plenty of more meaningful things to do besides making ones life miserable enough just to entertain yourselves. Don't you remember that quote, ''Dogs are man's best friends."?
Writing a blog on this specific theme gives me a whole new perspective on all those organizations that strive to enforce animal rights and ensuring their safety. Their works are the real 'trophies' that are worthy of our respect and being proud of. If the government would focus on them more, these cruelty can be reduced, even a slight bit would be for the best.
This week's theme is the hardest one of all as I am not quite the animal lover myself but it is also the most meaningful one of all as it made me realize how important animals is to our lives. So i urge all readers to read up on Animal Rights and help to preserve them as i believe there's happiness awaiting us at the end of day for hose who have done good deeds. I shall end this with another quote i find really heart moving and a picure.

Animal Rights 1.0
What are the differences between animals and humans? They are the same as us, humans. They just have different sizes, shapes, abilities, etc. But, the most important of all is, they have feelings too. We both live together on Earth as its inhabitants. However, animals tend to be mistreated and claimed by us to be a lesser being. What reasons do we have to look down on the animals?
Each day, even as you're reading this, animals are being hunted down, killed cruelly and even worse, used for wrong reasons. Honestly, I don't really know about all this until i've been told to write a blog about Animal Rights for my assignment. In fact, i could care less about what is happening to these poor animals and still live happily. That was before i started to research on this topic more in the Internet and even asked my friends about it. As i continue on, it makes me sick to even finish watching a video about 'Slaughter House' and animals being used for several reasons. Inside of me, grows this feeling of hatred towards all these people who hurt animals for their own sake. But what separates me from them? What makes me so different from them that i can hate them?
As i think further down, I am no different from those cold-hearted animal slayers. What efforts have i put in to help save these poor and innocent animals? I just watched all these clips and news about animal-killing and the next thing i know, i'm doing something else, forgetting about them already. Thanks to this assignment, i can at least do something to help these precious lifes, even a little would do.
Lets stop for a breather and meanwhile learn more about our topic today. A brief explanation of 'Animal Rights' is the belief that animals have an intrinsic value separate from any value they have to humans, and are worthy of moral consideration. Animal slaughtering is getting out of hand nowadays. Everyday, thousands of them are slaughtered, young or old, to fill our stomachs and needs. Some are slaughtered for fun. Some are even killed and used as offerings or to fulfill a ritual. What are they? A life brought up just to be killed? Isn't that sad? Try putting yourselves in their shoes and feel their pain and suffering. Imagine your throat is sliced open and left there bleeding to death. Imagine a steel bolt shot into your brain. Imagine you're milked until you are over-exhausted and die. Imagine you are clubbed to death. All that for all the wrong reasons and we still can live without guilt. How selfish we are. Go http://www.google.com/ now and search for 'Animal Slaughter' in the 'Images' section. Open your cold and hypocritical eyes and take a look. I can't even bring myself to do that, let alone see those pictures.
We always complain about people violating our rights. What about the animal's rights? Aren't you violating their rights? They have the rights to be treated equally and deserve our respects.
